How Can I Stop Smoking? You Need To Have Personal Reasons

How do I stop smoking? Just quit smoking today. It seems so easy to do and say. Obviously it isn't. If it was then so many people wouldn't fail.


The first thing you have to know when you are trying to quit smoking is you have to want to quit for
yourself. If you are trying to quit because someone else wants you to or is telling you to you will probably fail.


Knowing and having your own reasons for quitting will help you quit. If you have enough reasons to quit provides one way that will help keep you motivated.


A lot of people smoke until they die even when they are sick for a long period beforehand. They could have if they put together enough reasons in their minds. They just don't understand what is required to stop smoking and remain that way.


If you talk to people who've quit long-term, 1 year or more, you'll find that they just quit. Most of them failed quite a few times before they succeeded. They only succeeded when the had enough personal reasons to quit.


It takes determination to quit. You have to take one day at a time. Sometimes you have to take one hour at a time. Due to bad moments, and tension at home or work the urge to smoke arises. You have to stick with your determination to not smoke another cigarette.


You must know that if you smoke even one cigarette you will make it almost impossible to quit. The next time the urge to smoke hits you it will be that much easier to give in to it. You will not be able to resist it. You need to deal with not smoking at the time and worry about the next time when it comes up.


You need to wake up every morning thinking you are not going to smoke today. You need to congratulate yourself every night before bed on not having a cigarette today. That pride in accomplishment is necessary to remain free from smoking.


Most smokers believe they smoke because they want to not because they have to. Actually they are addicted to nicotine and have to smoke to satisfy their habit. Just like any addiction you can't take just one. You need to overcome the urge and not use the drug anymore. You can't backslide or you will fail.


Don't ever convince yourself that you weren't addicted. Don't ever smoke another cigarette because you will be right back where you started.
